Review: Benefit Bella Bamba Blush

At the end of 2010, I had decided that I really needed to save up some money for the upcoming events at the middle of 2011 so I was to use up my cosmetic stash instead of buying anything new unless it was something that I ran out of and needed. There were a couple of exceptions because prior to making that decision, I had said that I was going to buy a new brush a month to build up my brush collection. I also knew that Sephora's Hello Kitty line was going to be launched and I knew that I was going to have to buy some things.

So how have I been doing? Well, I had been good BUT the line to our kitchen sink and washer got clogged so I needed to call the repair service to get it unclogged. My oven is also not working right now and I need to call the repair service for that--thank goodness the stove works so at least I can cook. This is probably going to cost at least $150.00. *sigh*

So having to spend the "saved" money on service repairs, I decided to go ahead and purchase Benefit's new blush, Bella Bamba. I haven't tried Benefit blush before because I actually don't like the cardboard box that it comes in.

Bella Bamba does come in a cardboard box and includes a brush. According to Sephora's website, Bella Bamba is a "watermelon-pink blush laced with shimmering gold undertones". It will "amplify cheekbones and create the illusion of sculpted features for a gorgeous 3D effect. Your face will look instantly brighter with just a quick swipe of this ultra-flattering color on the cheeks".

My first thought when I brought it home was that it looked so much like NARS Orgasm. Orgasm is a peachy-pink with golden shimmer.

I had difficulty in swatching these and getting decent pictures. In their respective containers, the colors do look quite similar and when swatched on white paper, I think that it's similar too.

Swatching it on my arm, there is a subtle difference. You can see that Bella Bamba is definitely more of a watermelon pink color.

I think that Benefit Bella Bamba is a softer cake powder than Orgasm so it applies much more pigmented than Orgasm. The end result of the shimmers highlighting your cheeks is really pretty and I think that it's quite similar to Orgasm in that respect. While Bella Bamba is not a dupe for Orgasm, I think that it comes in really close. It is $2.00 more than Orgasm but you get .28 oz of product with Bella Bamba while Orgasm has .16 oz of product. I honestly do not like either casing that the products come in.

Is Bella Bamba calling to you?

I've been thinking about purchasing Orgasm but now seeing your post I might give this a try, 28oz vs 16oz... 28oz FTW!

@Tara--I only recently purchased Orgasm (a few months ago) and it's my favorite blush. I didn't understand what the hype was until I tried it. Bella Bamba is so similar to Orgasm that yes, I would go with it since it has more product for only $2.00 more. I have read reviews on other blogs where they are saying that it's definitely not a dupe for Orgasm but in my swatching and wearing it, I think it quite similar--yeah not a dupe but it really close to it.

I think my comment got lost. :( So I'm going to type it again because I'm having a problem with my connection.

Thankyou for swatching the blushes! They really have a similarity. Now I know why Bella a Bamba is quickly becoming a cult favorite. :)

Thank you for reading my last blog and commenting. I think that is a cool way of building your brush collection by just buying one a month. I tend to go all out and buy everything at once, and end up crying because I just blew ALL this money at once. I didn't like benefits blush containers either, but I do love the product itself. I have coralista and love it. I think I will try Bella a Bamba next. I also have used Georgia which is just a nice highliter on my face. Thank you for this review.

@sugar sugar--I don't like it when that happens. My comments have gotten lost in cyberspace before too. You're welcome. I kind of debated whether or not to do this post since I found there were other reviews. But I decided that I enjoy reading a variety of different reviews of the same product.

@rae630--I'm kind of like you in that when I decide to do something, I go all out and then my wallet is really sad. My brushes, I have a variety of both inexpensive and expensive and I find that it is well worth investing in the brushes on the higher end. My MAC brushes I seem to have had forever and they are still in great shape, except for a couple of odd ones that I finally retired.

You're welcome. I'm glad that you liked this review.

@coffretgorge--Yes, I like the glowy shade too. I'm glad that I picked this up even if I wasn't supposed to make any unnecessary makeup purchases and even if it's quite similar to Orgasm.

@Steph--Thank you for your comment! I like to try to do swatches on paper since it's white and you can get a proper color swatch than if it's on my skin--especially since everyone's skintone is different.

Um... I like the look of this. I only have Coralista which is just okay for me not rave material.. See - now I'm really trying to cut back although I am curious I am going to hold back! Wow huh? hehehe

PS I never realised how similar it was to Orgasm though.

@BV--Go ahead and test it but don't buy it. It actually is quite a bit more shimmery than Orgasm so if you don't like really shimmery blushes, then you won't like it.
