I Can't Decide! What Do You Think?

For someone who is not supposed to be blogging much this week and concentrating on a project, here's a 2nd post from me today!

I finally left work and went to scout out some things for my project and ended up in Ross. I found this really cute sweater top/dress and it was only $9.99! I don't usually wear cowl necks and/or sweaters much since I'm in Hawaii and I think it's too heavy for our weather, although when the temperature dips a bit, you see a lot of locals freezing and pulling out winter wear. I think it's kind of funny since we're actually still quite balmy compared to the rest of the nation. Anyway, I digress. So I bought it and brought it home to try on. I'm still not sure if the cowl neck is a bit too bulky and large for me or if that's the way a cowl neck is supposed to be. The shoulders kind of droop down a bit but if I attach shoulder pads, it will look much better.

I actually have super flat shoulder pads in this pic--need to use a little thicker ones.

Do you think that it's too bulky in the back neckline area? So is it a keeper or shall I return it? I only bought it because it was quite cheap and I'm going to Las Vegas at the end of February when it'll still be quite cool. I was planning on layering this over a long sleeved black t-shirt and black leggings or skinny jeans. I realize that the casino areas are quite warm but in case we happen to go out shopping or to a show.

Thanks for your input!

you can roll up the collar to your neck when it gets chilly plus it won't look as chunky ;)

@coffretgorge--Thanks for the suggestion! I've been getting more "keep it" votes.

i like it =D
great piece for layering~
i think the style is meant to look more relaxed so maybe lose the shoulder pads?
&& i like the different textures~

I think it's a lovely top and you can save it for cooler nights or when you go to the mall or somewhere cold. :)

I really like this dress and think it would make a great basic piece that you can dress up or down.
Aside from that I really like your necklace from what I can see of it...where did you get it if you don't mind my asking?

@Steph--Thank you for your thoughts. Layering is exactly what I have in mind for using it.

@Jennifer--Thank you! It seems that most of the opinions I'm receiving here, via twitter and via private email is saying to keep it. I love bargains and at $9.99, it was definitely a bargain.

@Brianna--Thank you for your thoughts on it too. As for my necklace, it's a custom made piece that the DH gave to me. It's actually the kamon of my mother's maiden name. I really love it because it's a flower that looks like a sakura or ume. It's my understanding that one should keep their mother's maiden name kamon. I'm not sure if it's a Hawaii thing or not. There's quite a few variations here in Hawaii which is originally derived from Japanese customs but somehow got changed a bit over time. Thank you for commenting on my necklace and for liking it.

Thank you to all who commented to me whether via blog, twitter or private email. I was told overwhelmingly to keep it and so I will! It is a great bargain and will be worth it even if I only use it on my trip to Las Vegas next month.

Any bloggers heading to Vegas the last week in February?

It might be too late but I think you should keep the top!

If the neck feels a bit exposed you could always wrap short scarf around it..?

Looks cute IMO
