Hello Kitty Mini Haul

Although I'm supposed to be trying to use my current makeup stash, I knew that I wanted things from Sephora's Hello Kitty line when it got released. I purchased some items online and made a few more purchases yesterday at my local mall. One thing to note is that it is NOT a limited edition line, which I thought it was going to be. I guess that there really was no need to rush and get everything. However, it is so popular that many things have sold out already. I hope that it won't be like the elusive NAKED palette by Urban Decay.

Hello Kitty Brush Set. The HK container that holds the brushes is a lot larger than I thought it would be. As you can see from the picture, I haven't opened the brushes up yet so I have no clue what the quality is like although from a review by Denysia, she was disappointed by the brushes.

Two nail polishes--one in Frosted Cupcake and the other in Pink Sprinkles.

Two Sweet Gloss Lipsticks in Peachy and Pink Grapefruit. I also purchased in-store 2 more in Sweet Berry and Charmmy.

Pen Pal Eyeliner in Chocolate Milk.

I also "broke" my use my stash rule and purchased UD Eyeshadow Primer Potion in Greed. I have it in a mini version and I really love it.

I used 100 of my VIB points and picked up a mini bottle of HK Eau de Parfum. 0.25 fl oz/7.5 ml. A decent size in my  opinion.

Lastly, I finally found the Sonia Kashuk synthetic flat top multipurpose brush that I wanted. K did a flat top brush comparison in her blog but uses the flat top blush brush. I think that it's quite similar. I had said that I was going to buy a brush a month to build up my brush collection so this is my brush for January. (I am not counting the HK brush set for the brush a month purchase.)

My initial impression of the Hello Kitty makeup line is that I really think the cosmetics are geared towards the young teens. Yes, I realize that it IS Hello Kitty but hey, us older folks like Hello Kitty just as much as the younger pre-teens and teens. The sweet gloss lipsticks are quite sheer and even the Pen Pal eyeliner in Chocolate Milk is not highly pigmented. Actually this is good for my purposes because I wanted a brown eyeliner that was going to be on the lighter side. I knew that I definitely wanted a pen liner since I love my K-Palette liner. Unfortunately, it seems that the various Japanese brands of pen eyeliners have it only in black, at least the online stores that I usually purchase from seem to carry only black. I didn't want a heavily pigmented color for a more natural look for my lower lashline.

Have you or are you planning on purchasing from the Hello Kitty line?

P. S. I'll be updating the blog sale page with more items for sale.

The Hello Kitty range looks very cute. Although I am of the minority who are not obsessed with her I think! I am envious of your SK flat brush though. I have a few of her brushes when they were exclusively stocked once in the UK but they are now sold out. You can't find them in the UK anymore. I adore them. I am using the Sigma flat top right now. x

I find the Hello Kitty line very pretty but the products themselves don't really appeal to me ... =p

&& i'm thinking of redeeming the HK perfume too~

canada needs sonia kashuk products!!!

@Miss Kei Kei--I haven't tried Sigma brushes at all although I've read good reviews on them.

@Steph--I actually really like the blinged out stuff but they are quite pricey so I decided to forego them. I haven't even tried to see what the fragrance of the HK perfume is. I just thought it was cute and since I have a lot of VIB points, why not use it. It was only 100 points.

Thanks for showing these! I was wondering if they were worth the hype.

I think you bought the same SK brush as I reviewed. I wasn't really sure of the name!

I am so happy to hear that it's not limited edition. I really want to get everything little by little since it can be a bit pricy.
I love the items you got! so cute

@K--You're welcome. I think that it's worth the hype only if you are totally into Kitty chan. As I mentioned, it's cute, cute packaging, etc. but the products themselves are not as pigmented as I'm used to and like. That's why I think the makeup line is geared towards the young teens. I have to admit though that I didn't test out the eyeshadow palettes or the other makeup items. The blingy mirrors are really cute but pricey.

I recently started using the flat top brushes to stipple on my foundation again. I stopped because I felt that it was using up so much more foundation than when I applied it with my fingers but definitely can't get nice finish using fingers like you do when you use a brush.

@Miss.XoXo--I really thought that it was LE until I asked the SA at Sephora yesterday. I was glad to hear that it wasn't so perhaps I can slowly build up my collection of the pricier things that I want.

@Fruity Lashes--I hope that you're able to get the 100 point mini perfume too.

Nice HK haul, Kathy! everything looks cute..

Btw can I ask if Hawaii has a Target? I wanted to get my hands on some Sonia Kushuk brushes too... if no worries!

galpal.hi said...

@Nic Nic--Thank you!

I'll email you to be sure that you receive this answer but yes, Hawaii has 2 Targets! That's where I got my hands on the Sonia Kashuk brush. There's one in Salt Lake, which is close to where I live and one in Kapolei, which is kind of close to Ko Olina.

your purchases are so cute! :3 the sonia kashuk brush looks interesting. :D

galpal.hi said...

@sugar sugar--Thank you. I'm excited to try the Sonia Kashuk brush--either tomorrow or Monday when I apply my foundation. I like to stipple my foundation on for a nicer finish. I used to use my fingers but the finish is definitely nice when you use a brush. The only thing that I don't like is that it uses more foundation than when I use my fingers.

Aha! I thought you'd get the HK stuff at Sephora! I am (believe it or not!) abstaining...(!!!). I just spent a small fortune buying other stuff so I thought I'd just pass... I am so glad you got it so I find out how it performs!!

I admit - it is super cute!

Eii the HK stuff from Sephora! I was thinking about buying them but thinking I'd probably pass since >< there's so much other things I'd like to try before them.

However I have to say they look really adorable and precious!

Now this is a cute haul! How's the penpal eyeliner? Is it waterproof? I've been eyeing on Sonia Kashuk's brush which is impossible to get here. Even Sephora doesn't deliver internationally.

Can't wait to receive my items from you. =)

@BV--You a Hello Kitty fan and passing on the collection?! *gasp!* Ah well, it really is so-so but oh so cute. Take care of yourself cause I know you're working waaaay too hard.

@Kotori--Thank you for commenting and following. The good news is that the Hello Kitty line isn't limited edition so you can purchase items at a later time if you change your mind.

@Lemon Tart--The PenPal eyeliner isn't waterproof but I think that it's water resistant. It's not really smudgeproof either but I had to rub it pretty rigorously in order to see some smudging. All in all, I think that it's pretty good.

i'm not into HK but find the polish bottles extremely cute ;P

galpal.hi said...

@Mona--thanks for stopping by and commenting. Aren't the bottles cute?! It's really the only reason why I purchased it. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if the product itself isn't all that great.

@charlene-ann--Yup! They are so cute. Honestly, other than testing out the liner and the gloss sticks, I haven't used anything since then.
