Happy Birthday Wishes and Early Birthday Celebration Adventure

October 26 is a special day as several beautiful women were born on this day. I want to wish a very Happy Birthday to @Mona26 (Make Me Blushhh), @vanityfashionis (Vanity-Fashionista) and @Belle_Kels (I only know of her from Twitter). These women are wonderful and sweet women and I'm proud to be able to be a birthday partner with them. Happy Birthday to you all and I hope that this day is a very special one for you, filled with love, laughter and happiness--not just on this day but every day. I wish you many more Happy Birthdays to come.

This past Saturday, Mai and I spent the afternoon and evening out as she wanted to celebrate my birthday. It was a few days early but doing it on this actual day would have been difficult and she's tied up this upcoming weekend. As part of my present, she scheduled a manicure/pedicure session at Trina Beauty. I have had manicures done before as I used to use acrylic nails but I've never had a pedicure done. This place was so busy! I was amazed at how many people were there, not just customers but workers too. There must have been at least 10 chairs for pedicures. I didn't think that I would enjoy getting a pedicure but I really did. They clean up your foot and do a massage all the way up to your calves. My feet and toes have never been happier! My finger nails got done in the same color and I got a design put on my ring fingers.

Remember the post when we did our Thrift Store Shopping Challenge? I mentioned that Mai and I bought additional items that were not part of the challenge. Here is one of the t-tops that she purchased:

Here is the CK jeans and t-top that I purchased:

We then went to my house to get ready to go out for dinner. We wore the dresses that we purchased when we did the shopping challenge. It was for this purpose that we did the challenge.

Mai's dress:

My dress:

I added the cardigan shrug from my own closet.

We went to Champa Thai to eat thai food. It's our favorite place! We had mee krob, spring rolls, panang chicken curry and beef ginger thai.

It was the first time that we tried the beef ginger thai. It was delicious but too similar to panang curry. We normally order chicken satay but wanted to try something different.

For my EOTD, I went with colors similar to that in my dress.

Products used:

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion in Eden
Urban Decayeyeshadow Junkshow (from 15th Anniversary Palette)
MAC Violet pigment (that I pressed), Sorcery and Print
K-Palette Real Lasting Eyeliner
Canmake Agebuto Mascara

It actually came out a little bolder than it shows up in the picture.

I had a great early birthday celebration with Mai. Thank you, my dear friend, for always being there for me and for all of the times that we share, both the good and the bad.

I Can't Decide! What Do You Think?

For someone who is not supposed to be blogging much this week and concentrating on a project, here's a 2nd post from me today!

I finally left work and went to scout out some things for my project and ended up in Ross. I found this really cute sweater top/dress and it was only $9.99! I don't usually wear cowl necks and/or sweaters much since I'm in Hawaii and I think it's too heavy for our weather, although when the temperature dips a bit, you see a lot of locals freezing and pulling out winter wear. I think it's kind of funny since we're actually still quite balmy compared to the rest of the nation. Anyway, I digress. So I bought it and brought it home to try on. I'm still not sure if the cowl neck is a bit too bulky and large for me or if that's the way a cowl neck is supposed to be. The shoulders kind of droop down a bit but if I attach shoulder pads, it will look much better.

I actually have super flat shoulder pads in this pic--need to use a little thicker ones.

Do you think that it's too bulky in the back neckline area? So is it a keeper or shall I return it? I only bought it because it was quite cheap and I'm going to Las Vegas at the end of February when it'll still be quite cool. I was planning on layering this over a long sleeved black t-shirt and black leggings or skinny jeans. I realize that the casino areas are quite warm but in case we happen to go out shopping or to a show.

Thanks for your input!

OOTD

I rarely do OOTD posts because my daily wardrobe is pretty boring. Today Mai and I went into Waikiki (something which most locals don't do much) so I decided to dress up juuuust a little bit from my normal jeans and t-shirts. We actually went to see the recently opened Teddy Bear Museum and Sephora Waikiki. The Teddy Bear Museum was really cute and much better than I thought it would be. Maybe I'll do a separate post another time.

I actually got these main pieces to this OOTD only a day or two ago. They were from Macy's Jr.'s department on clearance so I got some bargains. The jeans are actually jean leggings. I couldn't decide between the small and the medium since the small was just a bit tight but with the lycra, it would stretch out throughout the day. The medium had just a little bit more "give" to it but was longer and a bit looser in the waist. I ended up buying the medium and washing and throwing it into the dryer on high heat and it shrunk to just right. I got these jeans leggings on clearance for $14.99 and by using my Macy's card, got an additional 10% off. The top was also from Macy's Jr. dept. on clearance. I did modify it a bit because it actually had a collar to it but it was a bit big, bulky and pointy. I folded the collar in and sewed it down and I like the look of it much better. It came with the matching belt and was only $9.99 plus the 10% discount. I am wearing a lace top lycra cami underneath since it is cut just a tad bit too low for my liking and that was from Nordstrom rack. I can't remember the exact price but it was somewhere around $10.00.

The boots were the most expensive part of this outfit. They are of a gray suede-like fabric. The heel is really quite low, which I like. It was quite comfortable except we did a LOT of walking so my toes and balls of my feet were starting to scream, even with the gel cushion for ball of foot that I inserted. (See the bit of blue in the boot.) I actually brought a pair of sandals just in case and it's a good thing that I did. The boots were purchased from The Slipper House and were $29.99. They are actually a girls' boot in a size 4. The sales clerk said that there was no way I would fit a girls' size but depending on the style of the shoe/sandal, I can.

Although it's not pictured, my purse was a pewter-colored bag with 4 large rosettes going across the top of it.

I hope that you're all having a lovely weekend!
