Japan Makeup Haul

I'm back from my Japan trip! I'm so sorry for not writing regularly but prior to my Japan trip, it was craziness! We left on Easter Sunday on a 6:15 p.m.flight but the hours leading up to it was packed! Since it was the Easter weekend, it was quite busy at work. To top it off, tax returns were going to be due while we were gone so I had to make sure it was all done and ready. The night before, my son told me that he did more research and found out that the rail pass that I decided not to get was going to be a way better value than we thought so after I spent a morning at work on Sunday, I ran to the Japan Travel Bureau to purchase the rail passes. I didn't get home until 1:30 and we needed to leave to go to the airport by 3:30. I still had to shower, wash and dry my hair and pack all of my last minute things. It was a huge rush!  I think that I got maybe 4 hours of sleep Friday night, 2 hours of sleep on Saturday night. Sunday night, which turned into Monday night when we arrived in Japan, I got no sleep at all, which is normal for me the first night away from my own bed.

Our trip was jam packed with all kinds of sight seeing activities planned by our son and his family and his in-laws. The result was that we didn't have much time for shopping. I still did manage to a little bit of hauling and today I'm going to show you my makeup haul.

From Daiso, which is a 100 yen store.

A box of face masks and a couple of packets of Hello Kitty face masks.

I was so excited when I saw these mirrors. I had exactly the same one in black for years. About a month ago, Hime chan reached up onto the counter when I was putting on my makeup and accidently pulled down my mirror. It fell to the ground and broke. I tried looking for a replacement but could only find round ones. I bought one and didn't like it. I ended up buying the light pink and dark pink at Daiso.

I also bought the blush palette there. For only 100 yen, it is a good quality blush and highlighter. I ended up using it the whole duration of my trip. It's actually the first time that I like the highlighter that comes with the blush.

Everything there comes out to 105 yen, when you include the tax. I really wish that I had more time to browse in there.

For the next two pictures, the items were purchased in Donki and Kawachi.

I bought backups of my favorite eyeliner--K-Palette and Mezaik Stretch Double Eyelid Fiber.

Biore Makeup Remover Sheets in Pink container. Justine of Sakura Lovely told me these were her favorite. I have to admit, they are really good although I find the sheets to be a bit too small so I end up using two each time. I also bought a backup of Canmake Shading Powder and a new blush from Canmake, which I haven't even opened to test yet.

The one "high-end" makeup purchase was done at Tokyo Station in Daimaru. I went to the floor which had all the cosmetics and found the Addiction counter!

I finally decided to purchase a single eyeshadow. I'm so happy that I bought it to try. Unlike most Japanese eyeshadows, this one is well pigmented, although it's not as soft and silky as Urban Decay. I also loved their color selection, which was quite a nice array of colors. I'm probably going to want to get  a few more. The next time I'm actually at an Addiction counter, I'd like to test out their foundations.

So that's my makeup haul. As I mentioned at the beginning, it's not very much but I'm really happy with what I got.

Ooo it is a nice haul nontheless! I find it very difficult to haul makeup with family around. Everyone wants to do different things, and to be honest I don't mind too much since I love spending time with them anyway (as I'm sure was the same for you!)

Ooooo you got somehting from Addiction!! Can't wait to see it on you in a future EOTD? :)

Ahhh....the JR rail pass? I was thinking about that too but I'm not sure if it actually *is* a good deal for me....I'll do a bit more research next month probably.

This looks like a great haul! It's so easy to spend too much on things that you think you need but end up never using.
Sounds like you had a wonderful trip and got to spend some time with the Japanese family.

Wow you were pretty tame in your haul! I expected more, haha. Very happy to hear that you had a good time but too bad you didn't get too much time for shopping.

Looking forward to your reviews =)

You got yourself some Addiction! I love their eyeshadows and the fact that their colour philosophy is so different from almost all the other Japanese brands.

Wow, sounds like everything was crazy before you left! Glad you got to spend a lot of time and go sightseeing with your family and in-laws. I love Daiso but didn't get to spend a lot of time there in Tokyo. Hooray for finding the things that you like and hope you'll have fun with your new goodies!

It is hard to haul makeup when you want to browse and you have other folks around you. I take forever to decide and tend to walk around and "graze" (swatch!). Sooo good that you managed to squeeze in some good solid purchases. Good choice on the Addiction shadow - that's a popular one that I see on blogs...I always prefer to get Addiction in Japan because it's about the same price as MAC ;-)

@Yumeko--Thank you! I will definitely do a review of the Addiction eyeshadow once the craziness of real life slows down, which should be in about a month or so.

Wish that we could have met up.

@Blair--Thank you for your comment. Wish I could have shopped more or at least more leisurely. Longest time spent in one store was 1/2 hour. Now that I bought an Addiction item, I would love to get more.

@Jian--Thank you! Love Addiction now.

The rail pass was definitely worth it for us. It ended up being $122.00 per person. If bought tickets on our own, it would have been $74.00 + per person 1 way. Plus we were able to make a stop on the way back to Tokyo to see the sakura in another town.

@Nic Nic--would have loved to do a meet up but there definitely was no time at all. We were so totally booked. My relatives would have wanted to spend more time with us and tried to get us to extend our trip. We're hoping to try to get back to Japan next year in the fall.

@Brianna--Totally thought of you when we drove through Yokohama. We had a wonderful time in Japan and I can see why you're "homesick" for Japan as I'm wishing I was back there too.

@Sheila--Shopping in 15 minute to 1/2 hour increments does not do justice to hauling. In some ways good (for my wallet) and in some ways bad (for my soul). Really wanted to shop more. Oh well, good incentive to try to get back there.

@Haru--Thank you for your comment. I completely agree with your assessment of Addiction. They have such wonderful colors available that is so not like other Japanese brands. Pigmentation is wonderful too--at least with the color that I bought.

@PaperDollRevenge--Welcome back home to you too. I hope that you got to do more shopping than I did.

@BeautyBox--Yes, it was definitely difficult to relax and shop with the hubs right there.

I was surprised by the pricing of Addiction. I thought that it would be much higher but as you said, it's comparable to MAC, which pricing I am comfortable with. I definitely need to get more Addicition products!
