Review: Lever Lux Super Damage Repair Shampoo and Conditioner

I've been using Lever Lux Super Damage Repair Shampoo and Conditioner for a while now and I'm quite happy with it. I first discovered this line when my son's fiancee came to Hawaii 2 years ago and this is what she uses. I understand that she does color treat her hair and she washes it every day. Her hair is long, beautiful and looks healthy so I attribute it to her hair care. I don't think that I would be able to spend every single day washing, drying and styling my hair. It's just too time consuming. This is also available in Hawaii, which makes it easy to purchase.

Like most of the Japanese repairing type of shampoo and conditioners, this one is rich but not quite as rich as the others that I've tried--Tsubaki and Ascience Shine Therapy (which I had to order online) to name a couple. As a result, this gives me really nice and soft hair and helps to smooth out the frizzies without it weighing down or greasing my hair.  The richer shampoos and conditioners tend to build up on my scalp, no matter how well I rinse it off and as a result, my scalp will start to itch and I will have a bit of a break out on my scalp--usually after a week and a half. (Sounds weird, doesn't it?) Even this Lux line does that but I can go 3 weeks or so before I start noticing a bit of a break out. When this happens, I go back to Noevir Tokara Sea Mineral Shampoo and Conditioner to kind of clarify my hair and help my scalp. I usually will use it for a week or so and then go back to Lux.

I think that the only drawback to this is the price. A 500 ml pump dispenser bottle costs $17.99 each and the 380 ml refill pouch costs $13.49 each. My son's fiancee's jaw dropped when she saw the prices. She said that it runs anywhere from $4.00 - $6.00 USD in Japan. I didn't know any better so I'm okay with the price of it. It lasts a decently long period of time for me.

In addition to using this shampoo and conditioner to help repair and hydrate my dry and color-treated hair, I will use a mask at least once a week. Currently I am using one from L'Occitane but want to try a couple of others when I am finished with it.

Lux is one of my favorite shampoo and conditioners to use here too! Though wow, talk about a price hike! I suppose importing does cost something though.

Had no luck with LUX hair care line last time I tried it, guess my hair isn't that 'dry' :( it makes my hair so greasy afterwards. Am probably going to try Essential hair care next!

@Brianna--I hope that you're able to find it once you return to the states. I was actually pretty happy with the pricing of it until I found out how much it was in Japan.

@Jennifer--My hair is dry from it being color-treated and bleached plus I think it's age. My hair also frizzes more easily now and it doesn't help that there's been much humidity and/or rain here.

After reading your review of the Essential Shea Butter/Honey hair mask, that's one of the ones that I want to try next.

sounds like a good try. I dont quite like the tsubaki range, leaves residues on my hair :( ascience shampoo too except the oily hair range which rate one of the best so far in my list XD I haven't see luxx around in my country :/

@heartbreaker--Yeah, I was really disappointed with the Tsubaki range. The only thing that I actually liked was the hair mask.

@Steph--So far, I'm really liking this line. To be fair, the bottles and refills are on the heavier side so I guess that justifies the price jump. Shipping can be expensive but then again, if you're shipping in bulk, that would help to bring down the costs.

@evie--I'm so glad that I'm not the only one with the scalp build up. Unfortunately, price mark ups are a fact of life. Thanks for commenting.
