The Body Shop Eye Shimmers Quick Review

I am back! I would like to start off with a big THANK YOU  to everyone who sent good thoughts my way and was concerned about me during my absence. I didn't intend to be away for quite this long except that I ended up having sinus/migraine headaches due to the weather conditions here in Hawaii. I'm sure that it's been exacerbated by lack of sleep. The lack of sleep is because I'm up various times of the night to stay up to date on the news in Japan. My son is still there in Fukushima but is prepared to evacuate, if necessary.

I also got sidelined by a statewide ISP problem which lasted for a couple of days. I really don't like it when that happens.

So, I'm not supposed to be purchasing unnecessary makeup but with all of recent stresses, I finally broke down and picked up a few things. A few weeks ago when I was hosting the students from Okinawa, we stopped off at The Body Shop and they showed the girls the eye shimmers. I thought that it was really pretty but didn't buy anything. I've been thinking about it since then so I went in to take another look at it. I got suckered in and bought all 5 colors that they had. I thought that these were a new item but apparently they are not. In fact, the SA thought that the lavender one might have been discontinued but they finally got some in. I checked on the website when I got home and they are out of stock.

Along with my purchase, I got a free package of samples and since my purchase was over $30.00, I got a brushroll free. Supposedly the value of it is $90.00 but they do sell it for $45.00.

The eye shimmer colors that I purchased is 01 Silver, 02 Gold, 04 Copper, 06 Lavender and 08 Emerald. The Lavender and Emerald are the most outstanding in my opinion. Using it alone, the colors are shimmery and not extremely pigmented. I also found it to be on the chalky side.

However, one of the unique things about the eye shimmers is when you apply it over a black liner. You can use a cream pencil liner or even a liquid liner and the color just POPS! If you use cream eyeshadow, you can also use this over it and it will look gorgeous! I tried it out using an eyeshadow primer, black powder eyeshadow (MAC Print) and tapped the eye shimmer over it. It turns out just about as nicely but it really stands out when you use a cream.

I really like the lavender and emerald colors. The gold and silver are okay. I tried the copper in the store and it was pretty too but just not "me". I'm sorry, I didn't swatch the copper here because I'm going to use it either in a blog sale or giveaway--I'm not sure yet. The same is true for the brushroll. The brushroll itself is really pretty and the brush selection inside is nice but I really don't need a brushroll as I purchased one made by Yumeko and I'm really happy with that.

Somehow, I always get enticed into buying things from The Body Shop and end up not really liking it much after using it a few times. I hope that this is not the case with these eye shimmers.

I have yet to purchase TBS's point makeup! Have been eyeing their LE releases but the SAs sticking to me whenever I enter are a good in annoying me away.

The situation in Japan must be worrying you! Stay strong Kat!

Glad you are back!
I am glad that things are so far ok for you and your family, you are definitely in my thoughts these days.

These look nice, especially layered on the black. I'm often tempted by the body shop colors but haven't bought any shades from them yet. I may have to pop by this weekend and check these out in person.

Oh, that's so clever the way they transform over black!!!
I think it is a great gift with purchase too! I thought it was just the brush roll but you get the brushes too! SCORE.

Hope you are feeling better! The situation in Japan while looking grim looks like it is getting under control (slowly). I hope everything is cool with you and your family!
All the best

@sugar sugar--Thank you! I agree, retail therapy is a lot of fun.

It seems that things at the Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant is such a roller coaster ride. They take one step foward and then two steps back. I hope that it gets controlled soon.

@Blair--I know what you mean! The shop is so small and yes, they do stick to you like glue! Quite annoying.

Thank you. I'm doing okay. It's great that I can call and talk to my son for free until the end of the month. I'm really grateful for that.

@Brianna--Thank you for your good thoughts and for your help the other day. The information was helpful but it seems that some things are going to be stalled. Will email you about it.

Let me know if you end up buying anything from The Body Shop. I always find it interesting to see what others purchase.

@BV--Yes, I definitely SCORED!!!

I keep on thinking that things are starting to get handled in Japan and then there's another new problem. *sigh* I really would like for them to get it under control. We're talking nuclear radiation--that's scary stuff.

@K--It feels great to be back. I really did miss blogging and reading and commenting on blogs regularly.

@heartbreaker--I won't use the eye shimmers in any other way. It has to be over black otherwise it won't be as impressive. I was just so "wow'd" when I saw it a few weeks ago.

@Steph--Yes, they certainly do look very blah in the pan. I wouldn't have given them the time of day if it wasn't for the SA actually demonstrating it over the black liner.

BTW, I just recently tried MBD Sake Yeast Mask and it's instant "LOVE"!!! Have you tried that one yet?

*Kat*

no i haven't tried the sake yeast yet~ that and natto is at the top of my MBD try list lol
