In Search Of...

...a new primer.

Hmmm...it uploaded sideways and won't let me fix it. Sorry!

I am currently using Dior Capture Totale Multi-Perfection Radiance Enhancer. I like it because it has a creamy texture and doesn't leave my face feeling kind of plasticky/siliconey. It goes on smoothly and feels quite moisturizing. I'm not sure that it helps to keep my foundation from oxidizing a bit but it does seem to help my makeup be long lasting. The thing that I'm not liking is the price, which is why I'm in search of a new primer without the higher price tag.

Here are some of the primers that I have tried:

Not pictured is the Stila One Step Correction Primer and MUFE HD Primer. I have one somewhere but couldn't find it.

As I mentioned previously, the Stila was a disaster. Smashbox Photofinish makes my face itch although I do not break out. Clarins is super rich and feels nice a creamy but I decided that I don't like it much. I forgot that in the past I have used Clarins skincare line, which was anti-aging and somehow, I felt like it made my skin age more. Too Faced is okay but not sure if I like it much. The same with UDPP. Both Too Faced and UDPP kind of give me that plastic/silicone feeling although there is no silicone in it. Also, if I use it on a daily basis, it seems to break me out a bit.

Here's what I'm looking for: A primer that will help to hold my foundation for a ridiculously long period of time, is brightening/luminating, hydrating and will not bring out fine lines and wrinkles and will not oxidize. Oh and it should be semi-reasonably priced too. Anything out there like that? Please share your favorite primer with me.

Thanks!

The only primers i have tried are DIORSNOW and Paul & Joe's. I really like the DIORSNOW primer because it gives off a nice glow and it really helps in making my makeup stay al-throughout the day. but its a bit costly so i cannot recommend it to you based on your criteria. hehe ;)

Temptalia (http://www.temptalia.com/) uses the NARS eyeshadow primer, and her reviews are awesome so I'm guessing she's a reliable source. I'm thinking of getting that one soon :D

I've never been huge on using makeup primers, exactly because I really hate the sticky-silicone-y-suffocating-like feeling with most products I tried.

But I recently got the Shiseido Refining Makeup Primer, and I really love it! It definitely brightens up the complexion without feeling heavy! Smoothes out the pores too! I would recommend this one to you to try out, Kat! :)

@coffretgorge--I don't think they sell Dior Snow in Hawaii. I checked online and found it out of stock at Sasa but it was only around $55.00 US. That is about half the price of the Dior one that I'm using so I'd purchase it to try if I could. Thanks so much for your suggestion!

@candyapples (Ai)--Thank you for your suggestion. I have only recently started using some NARS products so haven't tried the eye primer yet. I do like Urban Decay's eye primer. It doesn't mess up the mezaik double eyelid stretch fiber, which is awesome for me.

@Jess--Thanks for the link and the suggestion! I found it online at Sephora for only $30.00 so I think that I'll try ordering it, especially since I have a 20% VIB coupon. Even at regular price, it's only about 1/3 to 1/4th the price of the Dior one that I'm using.

Hi Kat

Do you remember I did this post once and I had like 15 primers or something? LOLz. This was also one of my original HG searches. As Bono would say - I still haven't found what I'm looking for! I don't mind the Missha one cos it helps control my oily skin but even then, I still get heaps of wrinkles.

If you want to try non-silicon primers maybe the NARS one? I tried it and it did NOTHING for me but maybe try a sample..?

Hope you find something you like soon!
Cheers

Or otherwise... the BBs I guess (stead of primers I mean)...
