Half Year Disappointments

I've been meaning to do this post for a while now but kept on blogging about other things. There really isn't too much since I did an earlier tag post Don't Believe The Hype, which was basically the same thing for me.

This, of course, is my own personal opinion and what is a disappointment for me could be a thumbs up for you.

Hair Products:

Fekkai Shampoo and Conditioner--Technician Color Care

I thought that this would work well on my hair since it's color treated. This was probably the worst of the lot. When I would rinse out my hair, my hair felt really brittle and like straw. I really felt like my hair was a bird nest. Not only that, I really detested the scent. The shampoo was okay since it was sweet and lightly scented but the conditioner was much more strongly scented and it smelt like Passion Orange/Guava and I do not like those fruits. YUCK!

Fekkai Shampoo and Conditioner--Protein Rx Repairative

While this wasn't as bad as the Technician Color Care, the shampoo still made my hair feel like it was straw when rinsing out. The conditioner was okay. The thing that I didn't like was that after I dried my hair, it wasn't silky soft but it felt like I had applied styling products. Also, by the next day, my hair was feeling and looking oily so I would have to wash it. This meant that I was needing to wash my hair everyday.

Shiseido Tsubaki Golden Repair Shampoo

Unfortunately, when I rinse the shampoo out of my hair, it would also feel a bit like straw. I love the conditioner though and the hair mask is wonderful!

Skin Care:

Mandom Barrier Repair Baby Moist Serum and Essence

I'm glad that I didn't purchase the full line of this. I found that when I used this at night, the next morning there was excess oil sitting on my skin, like it wasn't absorbed into the skin. I couldn't read the ingredient list but when I applied the essence, it seemed to me that I could smell alcohol in it. I try to use as little alcohol-based products on my face since it can be quite drying. Not something that aging skin needs.

Neutrogena Ageless Essentials Continuous Hydration Eye Cream

I don't have anything bad to say about this product. I really don't have an opinion on it at all. I didn't feel that it did anything. If I don't think that it's doing something good, I won't purchase it again.

Makeup:

SunPlay Skin Aqua Moisture BB Cream

I really, really wanted to like this product. It felt good on and I thought that it was nicely moisturizing and hydrating. The only thing is that it is way too light for me. I tried to make it work by using a darker foundation color but it still didn't quite work out. It's really unfortunate!

MAC Plush Lash Mascara

This came highly recommended but it absolutely didn't work for me at all. It didn't curl my lashes. Although I was told by the MAC MUA that it wouldn't uncurl my lashes, it did. It also flaked on me.

Shiseido Eyelash Curler

I had read that many bloggers like this eyelash curler but it didn't work for me. Shu Uemura works the best so far. The Shiseido eyelash curler is more curved than the Shu Uemura so it's not a good "fit" for my eyes.

That's my 1st half of 2010 disappointments. Sorry it's almost a month late.

I love these posts! I love to read people's favorites, but it's also a lot of fun to read what didn't work. I'll have to bring you a different kind of Japanese shampoo!

Nice post! And I totally agree on SkinAqua. It's not that it's too like for me though... It's too pink. And this is a common thing for BB cream. I really need a more yellowy BB cream. L'egere was working really well for me until I got darker in the summer. Kat, do you have any recommendation?

Thanks K! I think that it's fair to write about what didn't work since we so often read raves about products. The sad part is that I purchased everything, except for the Tsubaki shampoo and conditioner. My son actually brought those when he came back home from Japan for a vacation.

Rica, have you tried Lioele Beyond Solution BB Cream? It's on the darker side. You can get it from Pretty & Cute and they have a smaller size--kind of like a travel size--that you can purchase. The Freshel seems to adjust to your skintone pretty nicely. You can get this BB cream from A Pop Of Kawaii. Both links are to the right. They are my top 2 BB creams at the moment.

Thanks Nic Nic. LOL! It is really just the opposite! I guess that you have really nicely rounded eyes, while mine are quite flat.

Hi Kat
I haven't tried most of the products on your list. I have tried the shiseido curler and plush lash. Oh man, I hate MAC mascaras so much - plush lash stinks. I paid like $30 US for it in Australia so it hurt extra BAD. I thought the shiseido curler was okay but not a patch on the Shu... isn't it fun we agree on things? I think we do! (except BB creams maybe..?)

Good list.. I must try and do something like that cos there are a lot of disappointments!!

Oh my BV! $30 US for the MAC Plush Lash?! That's exhorbitant! That's more than double the US price!

I have to agree that for the most part, we agree on most of the products. And yes, it is fun!

I'm hoping that I don't accrue too many disappointments in the next 6 months.

*Falls down in shock!* OMG! Mai comes out of the woodwork! You might get a taker if you try to sell it on EBAY. I thought that a lot of people were liking that mascara.

Please come around to OUR blog more often. LOL!
