EOTD Substitute for Dior

Last week Tuesday I got my makeup done by Tasha, my Dior MUA. You can see my post on it here: http://maikatoshaberi.blogspot.com/2010/06/dior-eotd.html

These were the products that she used:
Tropical Lightning

208 Navy Design
Both images courtesy of Sephora

There was one other palette that she used but I don't remember which one it was. It was to highlight and contour and she wanted a matte color, which was kind of a really light peach/nude pink color.

I decided to wait on getting the 208 Navy Design palette and Tasha told me that I could create the same look using similar colors from my own collection. This is what I came up with:

MAC Paintpot Painterly (not pictured)
Maquillage Eyes Creator GR764
MAC Orb, Samoa Silk, Fresh Water and Contrast
K-Palette Real Lasting Eyeliner
Shiseido Mascara Base
Dejavu Fiberwig Extra Long mascara (not pictured)

As always, I used Painterly as my base. I then very lightly applied Samoa Silk from crease line all the way up to the eyebrows. Orb then was applied over Samoa Silk. This created the similar color that Tasha used from the Dior line. This was used as a contour color as well as a highlighter on the brow bone. I then lightly applied Fresh Water over entire eyelid from lashline to just above crease line. Using the light green color from the Maquillage palette, I apply it on the inner 1/3 of my eye over Fresh Water. Apply Contrast on the outer 1/3 of eye, over Fresh Water. Gently blend the color inward and upward. On the outer covers of the eye, apply more Contrast in a sidewards "V" shape to make eyes pop. Using Fresh Water again, apply it to the middle 1/3 of the eye and gently blend out the edges. This way the 3 colors will softly come together and there are no harsh lines. Curl eyelashes and apply Shiseido Mascara Base. Apply K-Palette eyeliner. (I tried my best to wing it like Tasha did.) Apply Dejavu Fiberwig Mascara.

After I finished up my makeup on Friday, I then went to Nordstorm to meet up with Tasha for her to touch up my makeup if necessary. She said that she liked the colors that I used, especially Fresh Water since it was a brighter color. We decided to try out falsh eyelashes. I used to use them a long, long time ago. In recent years though, I haven't like using them because they hood my eyes and I feel like everything is dark because the hooding blocks out the light. (As you get older, you realize that you need lighting to be brighter.) Tasha got this really natural looking falsies from MAC and applied it. I really liked it and it didn't hood my eyes.

To finish today's look so that it was completely like my finished Friday reunion night look, these are the false eyelashes that Tasha used:

I'm sorry, I do not know what number it is. It's not long at all, very natural. And here's the finished look.

Doesn't it look really natural?

I was really happy that I could do a similar look using makeup that I already had. As Tasha said, I think that it actually came out nicer than when she did it using Dior's palettes but only because I had Fresh Water, a brighter sapphire blue. I did end up buying 208 Navy Design palette and played with it a bit yesterday. I'm not sure that I'm liking it much. I iwll need to play around with it more.

I hope that you liked today's EOTD.

I think the lashes look great on you. Your eyeshadow blending is really good...lol because I have a heard time trying to show the color graduation of the colors from my pictures especially taking them in low lighting too.

Jess, thank you for the compliment! Welcome to this blog. I've been reading your blog for a while now and you have an awesome blog.

I think that I was lucky when I did the blending this time. Sometimes I don't blend as well but I try to since it's nicer when there's no definite lines. Difficult when working on such a small area though. I think that you do a wonderful job of blending.

Hey Lisa! Thanks for commenting. Yeah, I was really impressed by these lashes. I'm glad that I tried them out. I might get back into false eyelashes again.
